FADE IN:
INT. DINER - EVENING

In a quaint diner sitting just at the edge of a small town, a middle aged man dressed in a three piece suit, a coat, black shoes and a pair of dark glasses sits at the head of the counter sipping a milkshake and humming to himself as a cane balances between his knees.
The door to the diner slowly opens and he hears the clatter of heels getting closer and closer - a woman wearing a burgundy dress and high heels enters and takes the seat next to him. She then sighs.

JEFFEREY
Long day, hm? I bet. That's why I always come here, to relax, I guess. This is my favourite seat actually. It's close enough to the kitchen so I'm warm enough whenever I get a bit cold and it's close enough to that window there that blows cool air unto my neck whenever I'm a bit toasty.

Jefferey is clearly quite fond of this place as he's going on and on to the woman next to him about the little things that he enjoys most. She, the woman beside him, then glances over at him and smiles briefly before she begins browsing the menu that was placed in front of her by the waitress.

JEFFEREY
Oh, and if you ever get hungry, the sweet lady that brought you the menu makes a cheesecake that would simply make you blush and insists that you have her fresh coffee with it. It apparently makes it go down smoother -- the cake, that is. Anyway, the name's Jefferey, Jeff if you want.

He chuckles to himself as he takes another sip of his milkshake and then wipes his mouth with the cuff of his jacket.

JEFFEREY
Well you're not much of a talker, are you? That's alright. I like listeners more anyway. They understand people like me, talkers.

The woman briefly glances and smiles at him once again.

JEFFEREY
And you, you're certainly a good listener so far. Say, can you keep a secret?

He hears her clearing her throat.

JEFFEREY
Eh, it's alright. I'll tell you anyway.

Jefferey takes one final sip of his milkshake and once again wipes his lips with the cuff of his jacket. As he's about to carry on with what he had to tell her, his watch begins to beep and it almost startles him.

JEFFEREY
Oh, dear! You'll have to forgive me. I'm afraid I must be going now but do enjoy your day and thank you, you know, for listening.

Jefferey gingerly gets up from the stool, pushes it in and grabs a hold of the cane that was between his legs. He then rummages in the pocket of his trousers for some change and rests it on the counter before he begins tapping the cane on the floor to navigate his way out of the diner.
A tall, and more youthful looking gentleman dressed in a loose, black sweater with tan trousers and brown shoes then opens the door and steps aside to make way for Jefferey as he walks out. He, the tall gentleman, nods politely as he walks into the diner and greets the woman seated at the counter who then tucks some hair behind her ear, revealing a hearing aid.

FADE TO BLACK.
